PRESENTATION SUMMARY

This training provides HR professionals with a practical overview of workplace accommodation requirements. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the ADA, including who is protected, what constitutes a disability, and the employer's obligations throughout the interactive process. The session will cover reasonable accommodations, including when leave may be an effective accommodation, as well as the limits of accommodation obligations, such as undue hardship and the direct threat to health and safety defense. The training will also review protections against discrimination and retaliation for engaging in protected activity, as well as affirmative obligations to accommodate pregnant and breastfeeding employees. Emphasis will be placed on the collaborative roles of HR and managers in achieving compliant and effective accommodation outcomes
